3 great bento box ideas
With MCM Comic Con happening recently, it occurred to me that taking a bento box would have been really handy for eating out. In addition to this, E3 is just around the corner for those of us who will be glued to the screen, a bento box is the perfect meal while watching the press conferences unfold. So today we’ll be taking a look at some great, easy and cute ideas to fill up your bento box with.
Octopus Sausages
These simple octopus sausages from Just Putzing are a great addition to any bento box. Plus, they’re easy to make! All you need is some hot hogs and a knife to shape the hot dog. Plus, it’s easy to make a vegetarian version using veggie hot dogs.
Rice balls
Sure you could just add a pile of rice to the bento box but it doesn’t quite look as nice or cute. If you’re looking for presentation this making a rice ball is something that you could consider doing to add to your meal.
This recipe from Food52 shows you how to make several types of rice balls.
Ham wrapped vegetables
Wrapping vegetables in ham is nothing new so why not add some to your bento box for a protein rich meal? It adds some new textures and flavours to the typical vegetable you’d usually eat and it great finger food. Perfect then for people who don’t want to do much washing up after eating.
slovakiastephs newest obsession is a great blog for bento box ideas and this one includes a simple ham wrapped vegetable suggestion.
These are just ideas for cute and small additions to a bento box however. It’s still a good idea to have some larger pieces of food such as meat, omelettes, salad, faux meat,s fruit and the like.
