
Fighting Game eSports Tournament ‘South East Asia Major 2017’ Confirmed for This October
Fighting games in eSports is a defining factor in the competitive world of video games. The largest tournament for brawler titles held in the Asian Pacific is the South East Asia Major, and according to ESPN, organizers of this tournament have just recently announced the return of the popular tournament coming this October.
Three featured events have been released, giving fans a look at what to expect from this years sporting events. The Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Asia Regional Finals, the Tekken World Tour Asia Pacific Regional Championship and the Windjammers Asia Pacific are all apart of SEAM‘s largest event in the young tournament’s history thus far. With a pool of just over $50,000, it’s no wonder why so many are excited for this upcoming event.
Capcom players will obviously play Street Fighter V in a tournament rewarding the winner with a $30,000 pool, Tekken 7 fighters are duking it out for a $15,000 bucket, while the Windjammers are after a $6,500 prize. With a lot of zeros at stake, look for plenty of competition from the huge eSports tournament. Other fighting titles like Guilty Gear XRD REV and BlazBlue Central Friction will also hold smaller events throughout the event. A handful of the industry’s top fighting games are sure to bring in fans, long-time and new to the field, from all over the Asia Pacific.
Starting on October 14th and continuing through the next day, big name competitors, as well as some newcomers to the leagues are sure to represent their name and legacy at the event. SEAM is allowing players not able to make international events to partake in the exciting tournament, but promises to have popular players in a star-studded lineup.
