Microsoft has just announced that they’re launching a subscription system that allows gamers to access and play over 100 different games. The Xbox Game Pass will work in a fashion similar to Netflix where users pay a monthly fee for access to all these games.
The program has only just been announced so details on what games are included are currently very limited. The official website for the Xbox Game Pass shows a variety of games on the page. It includes such as Halo 5: Guardians, Saints Row IV. Mad Max, NBA 2K16, Lego Batman and also Terraria.
It’s been confirmed that a wide range of genres will be included in the new service and that new games will be added every month. These games will be downloaded to the console and gamers will be able to play the full game including the multiplayer section. For games such as Halo 5: Guardians and Payday 2, this is good news as the Xbox Game Pass will grant full access to the online multiplayer aspects as well.
In addition to this, the Xbox Game Pass comes with an added bonus. All subscription holders will get a 20% discount in the Xbox store for all Xbox One games. Players will also get a 10% discount on all add-ons for games that are part of the Xbox Game Pass program.
Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Game Pass will be launching later this Spring however, the company didn’t provide a release date. The program will use a monthly subscription and will cost $9.99/£7.99 per month. Microsoft hasn’t confirmed if players will be able to pay on a quarterly basis or pay for months in advance.
Sadly, this program will not be coming to the PC and will not be coming to the Xbox 360. The Xbox Game Pass seems to be exclusive to the Xbox One.
