During the Nintendo Direct yesterday, Nintendo announced that they will be bringing retro games to the Nintendo Switch. However, it’s not the Virtual Console that everyone has been hoping for. There’s no word yet on this feature which is a shame but we won’t have to wait much longer to play some retro games in the “Arcade Archives.”
Nintendo has announced that they’ll be porting classic arcade games to the Switch. This will be done as “Arcade Archives” and will include some fan favourites which also includes various versus games for co-op and multiplayer fun. Here are the confirmed games so far:
- Vs. Super Mario Bros.
- Vs. Balloon Fight
- Vs. Ice Climer
- Vs. Pinball
- Vs. Clu Clu Land
We don’t currently know all of the game that will be launching for the system but we know that Nintendo will be announcing them all very soon. We know this for a fact as the company announced that the Arcade Archives will be launching on September 27th. Just under two weeks time. So more news about this arcade system will be coming very soon.
Nintendo will be announcing the full games list, how the system works and the international price of the Arcade Archives later this month. While the company didn’t reveal an international price, they did state that the system would cost 792 yen which is around $7.
The first game to launching from the Arcade Archives is Super Mario Bros which will be arriving on September 27th. This suggests that the games will be available separately. We don’t know this for sure however so hopefully, Nintendo will clear this all up sooner rather than later.
It doesn’t look like this will be the highly anticipated Virtual Console however. Which is bad news for Switch owners who have been waiting patiently for this.
What games would you like to see in the Arcade Archives?
