Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed to 2018

Reviews & Opinions

It’s a sad day for gamers. Rockstar has announced that their upcoming sequel has been delayed into 2018. Rockstar now states that the game will be coming in Spring 2018 instead of this Fall.

The announcement was first made on Twitter but the company has also released a blog post about the decision. The team explains that they are “firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready”. However, they will be able to release more details this summer. It’s possible that Rockstar is referring to E3 here which takes place in a few weeks time.

It would also seem that this announcement has sparked a big price hint for publisher Take’Two Interactive’s stock. After closing yesterday close to an all time high at $69.04, the stock price fell to $62.90. The large drop seems to have come just after the delay announcement. This is very bad news for the publisher and hopefully things pick up for them again once gamers have gotten over the shock of the announcement.

Take-Two interactive will be releasing their earnings report later today so it’s possible there will be more news coming very soon about Red Dead Redemption 2.

While Rockstar won’t be releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 any time soon, the developer did release some new screenshots. These new images don’t show very much but does confirm that there will be several biomes in the game. The screenshots looks amazing but it’s currently uncertain if these are gameplay or taken from cinematic cutscenes. You can find the screenshots on the blog post here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is being developed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There is currently no word on a PC version of the game. The game will now be releasing in Spring 2018 however the exact release date is currently unknown.

We will continue to update you as we learn more about the situation regarding the delay.
