Red Dead Redemption V mod has been cancelled
It’s bad news for fans of GTA V and the Red Dead Redemption series as a high profile mode which combined the two has officially been cancelled. One of the modders, Mr. Leisurewear, explained the reason for this on the GTA Forums. According to him, it’s all due to them being “contacted” last week.
Modder Mr.Leasurewear apologised for the cancellation and said that “I know this is hard pill to swallow, but as you may have noticed we did get contacted , and we sadly have to say we are stopping this project”.
Which is sad news for fans. They added that they were “all so happy to see this, but it isn’t going to happen” in their statement.
This is very sad news for PC gamers who have been desperate for a PC port for Red Dead Redemption 1. The modder did reiterate though that this wasn’t going to be a full port, they were just going to bring the map to GTA V.
The mod was first announced in March where the team revealed that they would be bringing the Xbox 360 map to the PC. Red Dead Redemption V would have been a single player mod only. The modding team was looking to the community to find other programmer who could help them.
It’s unclear who contacted the team of modders but it was most likely Take-Two. The company is the publisher for Rockstar so it would make sense for them to demand an end to a map port. Some fans are hopeful that this means Rockstar is porting Red Dead Redemption to PC but most are just frustrated by the situation.
We will provide you with updates as we learn more about this situation throughout the year. Hopefully Rockstar will be announcing a PC port over the next few months.
