The addictive and competitive car-soccer game from Psyonix, Rocket League is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch. With the announcement came a release date and a video from Nintendo Minute showing off the title on the Switch hybrid console.

The game pits small teams of rocket powered cars capable of equipping various arcade-like power ups. Playing what is most similar to soccer or hockey, teams bounce, or dribble the ball back and forth attempting to score in their opponent’s goal. Rocket League is a sequel to the lesser known, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars from the previous generation of gaming consoles.

In addition to rivaling against opposing teams and attempting to score as many goals as possible, while defending your team’s territory, plenty of power ups are scattered throughout the arena to keep things interesting. Speed boosts not only help fuel the cars to wind-up for more powerful shots, grab a defensive spot or make a last second steal, but also work as a gratifying strategy to pummel your opponents.

The success of Rocket League has developed into an online phenomenon causing players to join leagues, some as big as professional eSports events. The intense sporty action, high-paced arcade like abilities and the overall competitive nature of the game keep Rocket League powering through the current generation of hardware. With continuous add-ons and support for the game throughout its lifespan, bringing the game over to the Switch seems like a perfect fit.

The Switch edition of the game will include all of the upgrades and content that is featured on the game today. This is a full crossover of the game, retaining all of the modes, as well as special unlockables like customization options and exclusive Nintendo themed Battle Cars. No word has yet been mentioned on any online cross-platform play, which could help boost sales for the already successful title.

Switch owners, get ready to join in on what millions of other gamers have been indulging in for the past few years. Releasing on November 14th, 2017, Rocket League is coming to the Nintendo Switch library of games.
