My Time at Portia is a 3D sandbox RPG adventure game. Inspired by the likes of Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. So in short, it’s another RPG-adventure-life sim game. A genre which has become quite popular in recent years thanks to the success of Stardew Valley. Being 3D certainly, makes this game stand out in the genre, however.
Players start the game sailing for Portia, a town “on the edge of civilization”. Upon arriving, you’ll find a workshop which has been left to you by your Pa. Good to see the game isn’t looking to change any of the classic tropes of the genre then.
As expected, this game will contain the following features:
- Relationships & Marriage
- A storyline
- Holidays and weather
- And more!
The game will be released onto Steam Early Access in January 2018, however it will get a full release in August 2018. In addition to this, the game will also be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch in Fall 2018.
As of the time of writing, there are four hours left to go on the campaign but the game has already reached its target amount of $100,000. The developers are now pushing for their top stretch goal which is $150,000 for an additional dungeon type. Currently, there are two planned dungeon types for the game: Abandoned and Hazardous. We don’t know anything about this proposed third dungeon type yet so if this goal is reached then hopefully the developers will explain it soon.
If you want to support the game there’s a $5 tier still active. However, if you want to grab a copy of the game and support the Kickstarter campaign then you can pick up the $20 “Digital Starter Pack” edition for a Steam Key.
Of course, if you absolutely can’t wait to play the game then there’s a PC demo currently available. The demo has around 6-8 hours of content so it should provide a good insight into the project. You can find the demo on the Steam page here.
